Our Minister

Rev. Jerry Troyer has studied New Thought and Religious Science since 1989, and became senior minister of the Center in 2005.

Rev. Jerry came from traditional Christianity with a belief in a separate, judgmental God.  He struggled with his relationship with Spirit, questioning many of the core beliefs of traditional religion.

Religious Science teachings have allowed him to heal his relationship with his Higher Power, releasing habits that no longer serve him, and embracing the truth that he is the beloved of God, just as everyone else is, too.

Rev. Jerry is an interesting and motivational speaker.  Sunday talks are presented with knowledge of New Thought principles, the New Testament empowering teachings of Jesus, with a touch of humor.

He is also available for Practitioner work (spiritual counseling), as well to conduct weddings, holy unions, baptisms, memorial services and other sacred ceremonies.

Rev. Jerry is the author of "Coming Out to Ourselves...Admitting, Accepting and Embracing Who We Truly Are."  He is a motivating and heart-opening guest speaker, and has spoken and conducted workshops based on the book at Metropolitan Community Churches, New Thought and United Methodist Churches throughout the U. S.

Rev. Jerry and his life partner of more than 30 years, Jerry Collins, met at Metropolitan Community Church of San Diego.  They live in La Mesa with their Golden Retriever, “Roxie.”

Rev. Jerry is also the founder of the LGBTQ Spiritual Summit, a gathering of leaders from various religious denominations and spiritual traditions, to "start the conversation" about the changing face of gay spirituality.  Click to learn more.
